Support for self-organized solidarity collectives 2021

The amount collected to support solidarity actions of self-organized structures in Greece after the 2021 campaign amounted to €21.907,93. It should be reminded that this amount is obtained by adding a percentage of 10% to the producer’s price. In this pricing model, practical solidarity in collective voluntary actions is embedded within the alternative trade of products and is not an option of “donation” by the consumer.

“Peliti”, an alternative community for a harmonious coexistence: Peliti was founded in Dasoto in Nevrokopi, Drama, in the spring of 1995. Today (2020), Peliti is based in Peliti Land, in Mesochori, Paranesti, Drama. In 2009 Peliti acquired its own land a 6-acre stretch in Mesochori, Paranesti, Drama. In 2018 Peliti expanded to 25 acres. The main goals of “Peliti” are:

• the collection, preservation, and dissemination of traditional varieties,
• the exchange of goods and services without money intermediation,
• the creation of ecological communities focused on the preservation of traditional seeds.

Peliti has the potential to give small quantities of seeds to farmers. These seeds are unimproved varieties of open fertilization and are provided free of charge by Peliti.

The Environmental Cultural Club: “Peri.Pol.O. Manis ” is an organization, in the form of a Non-Profit Association, established in 2008 by the residents themselves, aiming at preventing and coping with natural disasters, and at promoting, and protecting the environmental and cultural identity of the area. Its members, locals who know the area, the paths and the whereabouts well, are volunteers and have their own means. Furthermore, thanks to the solidarity of the Unna Rhineland-Westphalia community in Germany, the club acquired several years ago a 3 ton water fire truck, which is used in the fight against fires.

Mikros Dounias is an educational project in Mytilene, Lesvos. Every day, preschoolers from local & refugee families play and learn together in nature. All of us, children and adults, shape life and learning in Mikros Dounias collectively and beyond any form of discrimination. We perceive learning as a process that stimulates all senses and is connected to the mind, body and soul. We recognize what happens throughout the day in many different contexts

SODAA (Coordination of solidarity groups and structures of Attica) consists of 11 groups and collectives. Its action started in January 2021, and it consists of a network of self-organized collective kitchens, community centers, neighborhood initiatives and mutual aid structures, with hundreds of solidarity workers working daily to distribute foods and other necessities as well as cooked meals. The purpose of SODAA is for the world to act collectively and through mutual aid to cultivate resistance and self-organization, to form various aspects of social reality that give us strength and liberate us

Το Omniatv is a grassroot online news platform. It has been operating since 2011, on the basis of realizing a significant information gap. It focuses on issues of social and political interest, with an emphasis on topics that mainstream media choose to exclude from their agenda or present using distorting methods .

The Initiative against auctions was created in early 2017 and consists of anti-auction collectives (neighborhood assemblies, movements,) from all over Greece. They organize movements to avoid auctions of people’s houses and provide support and networking for those affected .

The “Mirmigi” solidarity network of the 6th municipal community is based on two basic principles:

– Solidarity from all and to all without discrimination or exclusion

– Immediate decision-making by the core of the same people who actively participate and bear the burden of practical needs

– Our place is small but warm and multifunctional, like an anthill, 60 Eptanisou and Tenedou, on the corner.

– We collect and distribute foods to our fellow citizens and families who are in need

– We collect clothes, shoes, blankets and offer them through our permanent charity bazaar

Women’s House for Empowerment & Emancipation: It is a feminist collective from below, which operates with open and closed assemblies in various areas of Athens. It creates horizontal, solidary, and inclusive relationships. For about 5 years now, they have been meeting with detainees at the Police Detention Centers for Foreigners and provide material and psychosocial support. They also help to make their voices heard about their rights and conditions of detention
