Fruits of Solidarity, the network of production cooperatives in Greece and collectives in Germany and Austria continues for the 6th consecutive year!
The export of products from Modousa cooperative in Gera, Lesbos island and from the group of producers Greenland in Sterna, Messinia are getting prepared. Between the end of April until mid-May, the distribution of the products will take place in 5 cities of Germany and 4 cities in Austria.
Fruits of Solidarity is an initiative born in 2015 at the heart of an economic crisis. That network has been structured by those materials that make the network resilient to the new crisis we are experiencing. Our way of dealing with the current crisis is to propose an alternative social and economic system based on the protection of human life, solidarity with the socially excluded, universal access to public goods. A system that prioritizes the protection of the environment and local ecosystems through the self-organization of citizens and through the creation of collaborative projects of social solidarity economy.
FRUITS OF SOLIDARITY PRIORITIES
Human intervention in the environment that causes the destruction of ecosystems, depletion of natural resources and pollution of land, water and air has reached a breaking point. It therefore becomes necessary to change the way we live, produce, and consume, and “Fruits of Solidarity” has been working in this direction for 6 years.
The cooperatives participating in the network consist of agricultural cooperatives cultivating chemical-free products, respecting the quality of the soil, while creating decent and, above all, fair working conditions at a time when labor rights have clearly shrunk.
At the same time, the “Fruits of Solidarity” supports practically solidarity initiatives in Greece that deal with distribution of food and collective kitchens, social clinics and groups that support refugees / migrants and resisting the dominant European policy of closed refugee hotspots.
This is our approach to the development of the ecosystem of the Social and Solidarity Economy in Greece. We work for a system that supports decent jobs for workers and producers, that maintains active cooperation between self-organized solidarity structures, that promotes fair production and ethical consumption, that develops in harmony with man and the environment and in resistance with dominant policies.
Fruits of Solidarity comes to contribute to this effort. Through the fair and solidarity distribution of Greek agricultural products abroad, the producer cooperatives are financially supported while at the same time the ventures seeking social change through collective action are strengthened.
